Lyrics
Long ago a gardener planted a tree
It grew higher than all of the other trees
More beautiful than anything in the garden
Soon, the tree bore fruit, feeding all of the nearby people
They had never tasted anything so sweet
They ate and were satisfied
But one day, the tree was poisoned
And thou the fruit so sweet the taste, became bitter to their hearts
The fruit kept growing and the people continued to harvest
But no matter how much they picked, they could never keep up
They grew weary and tired, exhausted and overwhelmed
For years they picked the fruit, only to see it grow back in greater number
And all the while, the roots of the trees spared deeper and deeper
Infecting everything around them
It was the roots that carried the poison
The roots that grew the terrible fruit
And it was then that the people saw
To change the fruit, they must change the roots
Became bitter to their hearts
Long ago a gardener planted a tree
It grew higher than all of the other trees
More beautiful than anything in the garden
Soon, the tree bore fruit, feeding all of the nearby people
They had never tasted anything so sweet
They ate and were satisfied
But one day, the tree was poisoned
And thou the fruit so sweet the taste, became bitter to their hearts
[2x]
Became bitter to their hearts [3x]
