Back in the early 2000s I was raving every weekend and besides the hardcore I absolutely loved drum & bass, going to One Nation, World Dance, Flashback, Slammin and of course Accelerated Culture, which was born out of Helter Skelter and would later go on to become Random Concept...which is still going today in 2020!
Accelerated Culture was probably the biggest promoter of this golden era of drum & bass with regular sold out parties at The Sanctuary, Code (or Air)and Que Club in Birmingham amongst others. I was lucky enough to go to a few AC events at The Sanctuary as well as Code which was only 25 minutes away. Back in 2000/1 I had no worries, I lived either my parents or at uni and all my money would go on rave tickets and records, so I was out every weekend raving.
AC would always book different DJs who would play across the board from jump up to dark to rollers to liquid to vocal to old skool stuff and back again, this era really was without limits when it came to style. I wanted to capture that broad scope of D&B with 60 or so of my absolute favourites from these golden years. Check it out!
The picture is from one of my favourite AC's I went to, the D&B awards in December 2001, one of the messiest nights of my life and I still listen to the sets regularly 20 years later. Good music never gets old...
