"Returning again to my full setup after experimenting a while with just vinyl, KP3 and a box or two. I'm trying to work out which instruments are really vital to the setup and distill them to a portable rig. I really missed the CS1x, it's just nice to fiddle away at the keys when you have a good loop going. Its clunky to transport though and I can't play piano really. KP3 is a no-brainer, since it basically is the heart of the entire system. The OTO Biscuit is such a beast, particularly when fed with two different signals like a beat and a synth loop simultaniously. MFB is a fatter drummachine than the Volca Beats but less flexible, slow to program and requires the SQ-1 to trigger. They work much better as a pair anyway, so it might be both drummachines or none. The X-Station is super handy with the quickly accessable synth parameters, but sounds a bit thin overall and lacks in keys. The VD400 delay is great in boosting the atmosphere, but makes routing even more of a problem - KP3 and/or OTO and/or VD400 on the entire mix or just as send fx? A lot to think about and I havn't even touched on vinyl sampling (which is also a lot of fun), the microphone or the guitar (both of which I need to experiment with more)."
