Hoi
As there was a discussion again on about how the dj's do live acts ill post here what Alphaverb said on Global Hardstyle about his live act.

DJ set:
You play existing tracks from vinyl / cd, wich you cannot influence.

LIVE act:
You can actually influence the music live by using your controllers.
Wich means, you could edit melody's / screeches / kicks / whatever or even make parts longer / shorter than you had prepared when you see people don't like it

In case of our liveact (AVIO) we have a "main line" running wich we prepare (mostly mainleads + main bassdrums) and we do our screeches live.
At Quakedance 2008, i started playing a live piano melody though, but this is not a common thing in hardstyle.
I presonally like to see our act as "semi-live", but LIVE is just the way its presented.

I think there are different styles (like techno) wich are easyer to do "completely" live, since there often is a basic line wich just "transforms" during the track.
With hardstyle is is almost impossible to play every mainlead perfectly syncing on beats. Thats why midi was invented :)
It would be possible, but than you would need a whole band with 1 artist for every instrument.

Hoi
Well take Noisecontrollers for example, they bring their keyboards with them to a gig and change midi's around, kicks, syhtns etc and thats the same with Donkey Rollers

I understand what your saying but to me it's all live lol

Zany for instance fkd around on a keyboard during his set with Noisecontrollers (on the video I saw) so does that mean it's Zany / Noisecontrollers Live Set or just Zany / Noisecontrollers ?

should the mods change every set with Donkey Rollers to Donkey Rollers LIVE

too many genres too many silly things added, if a dj is standing there playing with buttons n shit to me it's live, if he's sat there with a CD playing I'd then say it's not live..

but really if a dj is there & I am @ the rave watching him it's live to me :S

Yeah ofcourse.. because it happends on that time
When a DJ Mixes CD or Vinyl its not a live set..
But, When a DJ Goes live with Keyboard or Trigger Finger it means he will add other screeches or kicks

That's the reason they only use own tracks.. because they can strip them down.. take some kicks out of it.. change the midi.. ed. and they all do it on the moment that you are wachting/listening :)

so they are edditing music in front of you.. :p

that's something i don't get, unless you have seriously fast reaction skills to do that

What is real?
DJ set -> live set -> a dj prepare various tracks to play and mix together
Live Act -> live p.a. (performance act) -> recreate his music productions using his previous saved patterns in his laptop or using real instruments ;)

here's an example that mixes the 3 sides of a dance music producer: DJ set + VJ + P.A.

David Guetta & Joachim Garraud au RedLight fevrier 2005

@ 4:22 he recreate Mylo's "Drop the pressure" track in his Keyboard :thumbsup2:
