No way, its just Hardstyle, to tell the truth we should really get rid of the Early Hardstyle & Early Hardcore genre's because in the end Early Hardstyle is Hardstyle & Early Hardcore is Hardcore.

Anyone who knows Hardstyle or Hardcore can tell from the tracklist if its early stuff or newer stuff.

& if there's not a tracklist, it will be from a actual DJ who's played on the radio or at a festival / club & if you like that DJ you will download it anyway.

you can't compare soft hardtrancy tracks & sweet techno'ish lines with tracks which even tries to bang harder then early hardcore

it's too big difference.
i recon 2003-2005 under '(midyears-) hardstyle' though, same as hardstyle

1997-2002 is real early.

Oldschool Jungle is the name given to a style of electronic music that incorporates influences from genres including breakbeat hardcore, techno, rare groove and reggae/dub/dancehall. There is significant debate as to whether Jungle is a separate genre from Drum and Bass as some use the terms interchangeably. Drum and Bass started to separate musically from Jungle in the mid to late 1990s, in which there is a fuzzy period where it is harder to distinguish the difference between the two genres. There is much politics attached to labeling different tracks as a specific genre. :rtfm:

or when hardcore went 1 way 4 beats and drum and bass/jungle went the other

1997 what the fuck???

First of all if its not Hardstyle, it can't be Early Hardstyle :')

You can't go back to 1997-2001 & make out like its Hardstyle when it's Hard Trance or Hard House... NAW!

I think your forgeting that those styles were here first, they have been here longer than Hardstyle & they are different from Hardstyle.

'early hardstyle' isn't really a solo genre, but more a 'taggroup' of styles which dominated around a certain time

in this case it was hardhouse, REAL hardtrance and something in the dutch/italian middle (which was named 'Hardstyle' somewhere in 2001/2002, by Q-Dance i believe)

and yes date indicates so much back, with tracks such as Modem - Gotto Connect (2000) and Tatanka - GSM (1998)
